Private Training

Perfect for individuals or small groups of all levels. Private training provides for a more personalised learning experience as naturally,  more time can be given to the student than during an open class format. Some prefer the private training format for the opportunity to start their Self-Protection journey alone and build some confidence before joining any group or class format. For some private training allows them to hone their craft in specific areas with the benefit of private tuition which they undertake alongside weekly classes. We offer private training for individuals or groups up to 4 at our own studio in Bournemouth, or we can come to a prefered location provided by the client.

Weekly Classes

Workshops

Workshops tend to be client specific although then can also include general training and usually last between 1-4 hours. Most of the time this is where we are booked by a specific group to carry out Self-Protection training to their members. Examples of clients we have presented workshops to are gym groups, martial arts classes, schools, universities, LBGTQ groups, community groups, youth clubs, at client’s houses and at other self-defence classes to name but a few. We can tailor the requirements of a workshop for specific audiences ensuring that if there’s something particular you are looking for then we can deliver it.

Seminars

Like workshops seminars can be client specific or general. They are usually longer, averaging 4-6 hours although they can also be run over weekends allowing for 2-day events. The additional time allows for more flight time in training and for the delivery of multiple subjects, or increased content for specific subject matters. Our local seminars are usually always open to the public where as client requested ones may only be open to a specific group or locals to that area at the request the organisers. Seminars probably allow for the best delivery or training experience for larger groups.

Some of Our Recent Work

Corporate Training

Corportate training is better suited to the workplace environment. Usually this involves us training staff with relevent Self-Protection skills and understanding for within the capacity of where they are employed. Like any form of private training this can be tailored for a specifc need. Whilst this type of training can be booked genereally what we usually find is that quite often it is booked post event after an incicent within or close to the client's workplasce. Sometimes though it can just be booked as a team experience activity. We have carried out this type of training for The NHS, doctors surgeries, martial art groups, private contractors, community groups, events teams and similar.

Presentations

Although these presentations can include a physical element, they usually take more of a lecture style, classroom format where information is delivered through visual teaching models and spoken word. These are more content heavy to provide the clientele with specific information, possible prior to starting a physical class or just for knowledge acquisition. Schools, Universities, Community Groups, Martial Art Groups and Neighbourhood Watch Groups are examples for whom we have presented to.  Popular subjects include: An Introduction to Self-Protection, Violence Psychology, Mindest, Anti-Bullying, Home Security and Self Defence Law.

Bulletman Course

Although available to anyone as the levels can be moved up and down depending on the participant, the Bulletman is a great starting point for beginners. This 4-hour course gives you an introduction to Self-Protection. You will learn both physical and non-physical options with tailored drills allowing you the opportunity to practically apply each skill as you learn it before combining what you have learnt and putting it in to practice as you face the Bulletman. This course is part presentation, part practical and will give you vital information and skillsets provided with the correct context. Each session ends with a full debrief and Q&A.

Important Notice

Like any product or service there is good and bad Self-Protection So before you part ways with your time or any money, I would encourage you to do a bit of research before you start. Any credible form of Self-Protection should always emphasise the importance of prioritising your non-physical options including avoidance, awareness, conflict resolution and de-escalation prior to any physical applications. There should be teaching modules to include violence psychology, mindset, predatory behaviour, strategies and tactics and all should be presented with the correct context. What is taught should be based on research, evidence and statistics and when it comes to the physical components these should be gross motor, principle-based concepts and skill sets.  You should feel free to ask questions, query things and disclose any prior trauma or apprehensions should you so wish without the risk of ridicule. All this should be the bare minimum you should expect from someone teaching Self-Protection, claiming their primary motivation is to help

others over any potential financial gains.
